Dr Penelope Aligiannis is the Principal General Practitioner at Your Padstow Doctors Plus and the founder of the Padstow-based practice, which she established in 2018. She is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care and building long-term relationships with individuals and families across all stages of life.
Dr Aligiannis graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Newcastle in 2008. She subsequently completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours), undertaking research as an Associate Investigator with the Department of Intensive Care at St George Public Hospital, Kogarah. Her early clinical training included internship and residency at Bankstown and Campbelltown Public Hospitals, where she gained broad experience across Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Aged Care and Vascular Surgery.
In 2014, Dr Aligiannis obtained her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and has worked as a Specialist General Practitioner ever since. Her broad training and experience have shaped her holistic approach to general practice, with a particular focus on preventive healthcare, early intervention and supporting patients to make informed decisions about their health.
Dr Aligiannis has a special interest in children's health, women's health, mental health, family planning, lifestyle medicine, health screening and preventive medicine. She provides Antenatal Shared Care in partnership with Sutherland, St George and Bankstown Public Hospitals, supporting women throughout their pregnancy and helping coordinate their care across the healthcare system.
Dr Aligiannis has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Autism, further developing her knowledge and skills to support and advocate for neurodiverse children and their families. This reflects her commitment to providing inclusive, individualised care and ensuring that patients and their families feel heard, understood and supported.
She is fluent in both English and Greek and welcomes patients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
At the heart of Dr Aligiannis' approach to medicine is her commitment to advocating for her patients. She believes in taking the time to understand each person's individual circumstances, health goals and concerns, and works collaboratively with patients and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic, evidence-based and multidisciplinary care. Her aim is to empower patients to take an active role in their health and to achieve the best possible health outcomes at every stage of life.
