CLINICAL STAFF
Dr Penelope Aligiannis is the Principal General Practitioner at Your Padstow Doctors Plus. Her professional interests include children’s health, women’s health, family planning, antenatal care, lifestyle medicine, screening and preventative medicine, mental health and work cover. Dr Penelope Aligiannis provides Antenatal Shared Care with Sutherland, St George and Bankstown Public Hospitals. She is currently enrolled in a Graduate Certificate in Autism to help advocate for neurodiverse children and their families. In addition to English, Dr Penelope Aligiannis speaks fluent Greek.
APPOINTMENTS
Appointments are preferred, however walk-in patients are welcome for urgent matters. Appointments can be made by phone or online through HotDoc. Standard appointments are 15 minutes long, however, longer appointments are available for new patients, multiple or complex concerns, health assessments or care plans. Same day appointments are available for urgent matters on request. Face to face and telephone appointments are available. Appointments are required for all matters including prescriptions, referrals, and completion of forms. Medical staff will always endeavour to run on time, however, from time to time, unavoidable delays happen, such as in an emergency. We thank you in advance for your patience.
FEES
There will be a private fee for all consultations with Dr Penelope Aligiannis including telephone consultations, recall appointments, prescription renewals and referrals. A list of our fees can be found on our website. Fees are time based, and a Medicare rebate will apply to Medicare card holders for Medicare covered consultations. Intravenous infusions, minor surgical procedures and other specialised services will also attract a private fee and may be partially rebated by Medicare through our Easyclaim EFTPOS facility. Please note, several consultations may not be covered by Medicare and will attract a private fee that does not attract a rebate including nurse-only appointments, commercial driving medicals and non-government forms. Workers compensation and third-party claims are also not covered by Medicare and a fee is payable on the day of your consultation until your employer’s insurer accepts the claim. When making an appointment, please check with reception if any fees a payable on the day. Your Padstow Doctors Plus accepts payment by cash, direct debit, EFTPOS, credit card or through the HotDoc app. Surcharges apply when using EFTPOS, credit card or the HotDoc app.
MISSED APPOINTMENTS
As a courtesy to our doctors, and to other patients wanting an appointment, if you will not be able to attend your scheduled appointment, please let us know as soon as possible by calling the practice. Cancelling your appointment within 2 hours of your appointment time or arriving considerably late past your appointment time may result in a missed appointment fee or removal from the practice.
HOME VISITS
Where it is safe and reasonable to do so, our practice makes home visits during normal practice hours for regular patients who live within a 5km radius and who are unable to attend the practice due to severe illness. There is a private fee for home visits. Whenever possible, our clinical team prefer all patients to attend the practice for care so that they have access to appropriate medical equipment and support.
TEST RESULTS
If you have had some tests or investigations performed, we urge you to contact us to make an appointment to discuss these. Due to privacy and confidentiality reasons, and to prevent unnecessary distress, administration staff will not be able to provide access to results.
TELEPHONE ACCESS TO THE DOCTOR
Telephone consultations are available. As a courtesy to our patients, and for confidentiality reasons, your doctor cannot be interrupted while they are in consultation, unless the matter is life-threatening. Please notify reception if this is the case. For all other matters, we advise you to make an appointment.
EMAIL COMMUNICATION
Emails are not checked on a daily basis, and due to the risk of a security breech to your privacy, we advise that patients do not use or rely on email communication as a way of initiating contact with the practice. There are instances where the practice will use email to communicate with you and other health providers during your treatment, however this is only done after discussing the risks and obtaining your consent. All emails sent from our practice are password protected and sent securely.
PRIVACY POLICY
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain the security of personal health information and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff. We abide by the Australian Privacy Principles. Our Privacy Policy is available on our website or from Reception upon request.
YOUR RIGHTS
If you have a concern, we would like to hear about it. Please feel free to talk to your doctor directly, or you may prefer to write to us or use our “suggestions box”. We take your concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously. However, if you wish to take the matter further and feel that you need to discuss the matter outside of the practice there are several options available including: The Medical Registration Board, Australian Medical Association (AMA), Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or Health Care Complaints Commission on 1800 043 159.
